Karen Lei’s Gallery carries the paintings of several of Hawaii’s best local artists. Most of the scenes are of Hawaiian landscapes painted by talented en plein air painters. En plein air is French, for painting outside, or on location, versus painting in the studio. There is no other better place to paint year-round, outside, than in Hawaii. With its seductive scenery and majestic seascapes, there is enough inspiration to keep an artist busy for a lifetime. If a favorite of yours has sold, the artist is usually willing to go back to the same beautiful location and paint it again, with no two ever coming out the same.
